TWA to organize a five-day Advanced Level ‘Training of Trainers’ on Legal Empowerment of Tibetan Women in Exile, India
The Tibetan Women’s Association (TWA) will organize a‘Training of Trainers’ program on Legal Empowerment of Tibetan Women in Exile, India. Fifty women and men from across India representing a cross-section of the exile population will participate in the five-day training beginning August 3 at Hotel Tibet, Mcloed Ganj.
Honorable speaker of Tibetan Parliament in Exile Mr. Penpa Tsering and Ms. Kamla Bhasin, Feminist Activist, a Social Scientist by Training and South Asia’s Leading Gender trainer will grace the opening ceremony.
The event will also feature a book launch: Legal Handbook on Indian Laws and Acts Protecting Women and Children in India, (Tibetan and English Version) and Legal Empowerment of Tibetan Women in Exile-India, A Research Report, 2014
During the course of the training, the trainees will be granted a special audience with His Holiness the Karmapa Rinpoche entailing a discussion on Karmapa’s authored work ‘Gender Identities-It’s all in the Mind’ from the book ‘The Heart Is Noble: Changing the World from Inside Out.’ An exclusive session with Honorable Sikyong Dr. Lobsang Sangay will feature a discussion on the topic ‘Gender Empowerment and Significance of Legal Protection of Women and Children in Exile.’
