Domaling Nuns create history by passing Geshema examination!

Dharamshala: For the first time in the history of Tibetan Buddhism, twenty Tibetan nuns have become the first batch of Tibetan nuns to become Geshemas, which was non existent before the Tibetan leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama suggested that a curriculum be developed for the nuns. TWA congratulates for the achievement.
The Buddhist monastic degree for the nuns, which is somewhat equivalent to doctorate in five treatises of Tibetan Buddhism, was welcomed by the monastic community.


Dolma Ling Nunnery and Institute is a non-sectarian nunnery located in the Kangra valley near Dharamsala, northern India. Officially inaugurated by His Holiness the Dalai Lama on December 8, 2005, the nunnery is fully funded by the Tibetan Nuns Project and was the first institute dedicated specifically to higher Buddhist education for Tibetan Buddhist nuns from all traditions.
